Medium voltage armored cable is often specified when a project needs power distribution, circuit protection, and installation efficiency in one cable assembly. This 15kV Type MC group is built for three-conductor medium voltage applications where shielding, EPR insulation, aluminum interlocked armor, grounding, and a red PVC jacket are part of the required construction. Use the table below to compare conductor sizes, ground wire sizes, cable diameters, copper weight, and armored cable weight before requesting a quote.

15kV Type MC cable is used for medium voltage power distribution where the installation requires insulated conductors, shielding, grounding, and metal-clad mechanical protection in one cable assembly. It may be specified for commercial, industrial, utility, infrastructure, plant power, feeder, and equipment applications where 15kV medium voltage cable is required.
The correct cable depends on the system voltage, conductor size, insulation level, grounding requirement, installation environment, and project specification.
MV-105 means the medium voltage cable has a 105°C conductor temperature rating under normal operating conditions. This rating is important when a project specification requires medium voltage cable designed for higher temperature performance than standard 90°C-rated constructions.
MV-105 selection should still be reviewed with the full cable construction, including insulation, shielding, armor, jacket, voltage class, grounding, and installation method.
EPR insulation is commonly used in medium voltage cable because it offers flexibility, electrical performance, and resistance to moisture and demanding service environments. In a 15kV armored cable construction, EPR insulation helps support reliable power distribution while the armor and jacket provide added physical and environmental protection.
The right insulation choice depends on the project specification, voltage rating, installation environment, and operating conditions.
A 133% insulation level means the cable has increased insulation thickness compared with a 100% insulation level. It is commonly specified for systems where a ground fault may remain on the system longer before being cleared.
The required insulation level depends on the grounding method, fault-clearing time, system design, and engineering specification.
To choose the right 15kV Type MC cable size, start with the electrical load, system voltage, conductor material, ampacity requirement, circuit length, grounding needs, and installation conditions. Then compare the conductor size, ground wire size, cable diameter, copper weight, and total armored cable weight.
For quote requests, provide the required conductor size, quantity, footage, voltage class, insulation level, grounding requirement, jacket requirement, and any project or utility specifications.
