Construction

Conductors:

  • Concentric lay uncoated annealed copper with Class B stranding.

Conductor Shielding:

  • The power conductors are covered with an extruded layer of semi-conducting crosslinked material meeting the requirements of ICEA S-66-524. Part 2.

Insulation:

  • 90°C crosslinked polyethylene meeting the requirements of ICEA S-66-524, Part 3.

Insulation Shield:

  • Non-Metallic A semi-conducting coating (less than 1 mil thick) is applied uniformly complexly covering the insulation surface. Over the coating, an overlapping semi-conducting tape is applied.
  • Metallic An uncoated, 0.003 inch thick, annealed copper shield tape is applied over each power conductor with a minium overlap of 15%.

Ground Wires:

  • There are two ground wires, each concentric lay tinned annealed copper with Class
    B stranding uninsulated.

Ground Check Conductor:

  • 7 strands of copper, insulated with yellow cross linked polyethylene.

Conductor Identification:

  • Conductor identification is accomplished by means of stripes and/or printing on the semi-conducting tapes. The colors are black, white and red. The grounding conductors are un-insulated and the ground check conductor is yellow.

Assembly:

  • The three power conductors, the two ground wires and the ground check conductor are cabled with a left-hand lay. Fillers are used. A polyester tape is spirally wrapped over the conductor assembly with a 10% minimum overlap.

Jacket:

  • The black jacket is polyvinyl chloride in accordance with Part 4 of lCEA S-75-381.

Features:

  • 90°C rated in voltages of 5KV, 8KV or 15KV,
  • Crosslinked polyethylene (XLP) insulation; PVC jacket.
  • Copper tape shield.
  • Meets ICEA-NEMA standards.
  • Designed for use in wet or dry locations.
  • Meets Penna, and MSHA flame test requirements

Applications:

  • This cable is recommended for power supply to mine load centers. It is suitable for slope entry, open pit, or strip mines. It is ideal for aerial and other open air applications when supported or messenger wires with rings, rollers or block anc clamp. It can be laid on mine floors or direct bried

Standards:

  • Designed and constructed in accordance with ICEA-NEMA standards. (ICEA publication No. S-66-524 and NEMA publication No. WC7).
