Landscape Lighting Cable, 60°C 150V UL

150V landscape lighting cable provides a dependable low-voltage wiring option for outdoor lighting systems where conductor size, run length, and electrical load all affect performance. Its stranded copper construction and sunlight-resistant PVC insulation help support installation in outdoor environments, while multiple AWG sizes make it easier to match the cable to the requirements of the circuit. Frequently Asked Questions

Choose the wire gauge based on circuit load, run length, allowable voltage drop, and the requirements of the lighting equipment.

Longer runs and higher electrical loads often benefit from a larger conductor because increased conductor size reduces resistance and can help limit voltage drop. For example, a circuit that performs well with 16 AWG over a short distance may require 14 or 12 AWG when fixtures are located farther from the power source. Always consider the complete circuit rather than selecting cable size based only on fixture wattage.

Voltage drop can cause fixtures at the end of a long cable run to receive less voltage than intended, which may affect lighting performance.

Every conductor has electrical resistance, and the effect becomes more noticeable as cable runs become longer or circuit loads increase. Using an appropriately sized conductor can help reduce this loss. When designing an outdoor lighting circuit, consider total cable length, connected load, system voltage, and acceptable voltage drop before choosing the wire gauge.

Yes. A 150V-rated cable can be used on lower-voltage systems when its construction and listing are appropriate for the application.

The voltage rating represents the maximum voltage level for which the cable insulation is rated, not the voltage at which the cable must operate. A 12V or 24V landscape lighting circuit is therefore below the cable's 150V rating. Conductor size, current requirements, environmental conditions, connections, and applicable installation requirements still need to be considered.

Sunlight-resistant insulation is formulated to better withstand deterioration caused by exposure to ultraviolet light during outdoor use.

Outdoor cable can be exposed to sunlight for extended periods, and ordinary insulation materials may become brittle or deteriorate under repeated UV exposure. Sunlight-resistant PVC helps provide added protection against this type of environmental stress. The designation does not by itself establish suitability for every outdoor installation method, so the cable's complete listing and project requirements should still be verified.

Stranded copper provides flexibility that can make landscape lighting cable easier to route around planting beds, hardscape features, fixtures, and other obstacles.

Instead of using one solid conductor, stranded cable combines multiple smaller copper strands. This allows the cable to flex more readily during routing and installation while maintaining the conductivity required for the circuit. Flexibility can be particularly useful in outdoor lighting layouts where cable paths may change direction frequently or need to fit into confined connection areas.
