Construction
Description:
MIL-W-16878 TFE hook-up wire is used for internal wiring in electronic, electrical, control, instrumentation, and equipment applications where a compact single-conductor wire needs dependable insulation performance, heat resistance, and chemical resistance. The page lists Type E 600V and Type EE 1000V options.
Type E TFE hook-up wire is rated for 600 volts, while Type EE TFE hook-up wire is rated for 1000 volts. The correct choice depends on the equipment design, required voltage rating, insulation thickness, outside diameter, and project specification.
Silver-plated copper conductors are used to support conductivity, solderability, and performance in demanding electrical applications. They are commonly selected when the wire needs to perform reliably with PTFE insulation in higher-temperature or more specialized equipment wiring.
Extruded PTFE insulation helps protect the conductor from demanding conditions such as acids, alkalis, oil, flame, moisture, solvents, and fungus. This makes TFE hook-up wire useful in environments where ordinary insulation may not be suitable.
Before ordering, confirm the required MIL type designation, AWG size, strand construction, voltage rating, nominal insulation thickness, outside diameter, weight, conductor plating, and whether the application calls for 600V Type E or 1000V Type EE wire.
