Construction

Conductors:

  • Tinned annealed copper. Each wire positively positioned in the strand to distribute stress evenly and provide longer flex life.

Strand Shield:

  • Extruded semi-conducting shield minimizes formation of harmful ozone and helps distribute stress evenly to provide a longer life.

Insulation:

  • Ethylene propylene rubber. Rated for 90°C. Has superior overload (130°C) and short circuit (250°C) protection.

Shield:

  • Tinned copper braid over color-coded semi-conducting tape (on 5KV and above).
  • Increases safety, helps distribute stress more evenly and inhibits formation of harmful ozone.

Ground Wires:

  • Tinned copper positioned in the interstices to ground the shields.

Ground Check Wires:

  • Stranded bare copper insulated with ethylene propylene rubber.

Conductor Identification:

  • The colors are black, white and red. The grounding conductors are uninsulated and the ground check conductor is yellow.

Reinforcing Braid:

  • Textured fiber composition cord. An extra strength fiber cord which helps retain cable configuration under severe crushing and stress.

Jacket:

  • Reinforced double pass extra heavy-duty hypalon®. This jacketing is tough, durable and highly flexible. It has superior resistance to crushing, abrasion, compression, impact, chemicals, water, aging, weathering and harmful ozone. Colors other than black are available on special order.

Applications:

  • Suitable applications include power supply cables to open pit, strip and deep mines. Also to provide power to shovels, dredges, cranes and drag lines. They can be used in wet or dry locations and are rated 90°C for continuous conductor temperature.

Industry Approvals:

  • Reinforced extra heavy-duty Hypalon® Jacket.
  • Extra flexible tinned copper conductors.
  • Rated 2KV, 5KV, 8KV or 15KV. 90°C continuous.
  • Excellent flame resistance.
  • MSHA and Penna. Division of mine safety accepted.
  • Braided tinned copper shields for flexing service.

Standards:

  • Designed and constructed in accordance with ICEA-NEMA standards. (ICEA Publication No. S-68-516 and NEMA Publication No. WC8).
